Introduction\n\nThe Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) attracts, develops and qualifies the skilled workforce that delivers and maintains the UK's energy & process plant infrastructure. Recently they held their annual awards ceremony at the Montcalm Hotel in Marble Arch to celebrate the achievements and successes of individuals, companies and training providers from across the industry. Against a backdrop of excellence, I'm pleased to say that my employer Wood were up for a total of eight awards 🏆, with finalists in a diverse range of categories! Seven were from my division (Nuclear) and one came from Asset Solutions.\n\nThe Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB)\n\nECITB Training Development Awards 2019\n\nECITB Training Development Awards 2019 Finalists\n\nAmazing Results\n\nWe ended up winning two awards on the night, which was a fantastic achievement given the strength of the competition. Reading about it the following day made me immensely proud to be part of a company with such amazing people. It's no surprise to me as I have the absolute pleasure to work with the very best every day, but it's always incredible to see it recognised! I'm sure that it was an amazing night for all and I'd like to congratulate everyone involved in such a memorable occasion 😁👏.\n\nYoung Apprentice of the Year Winner was Wood's Melissa Worrall\n\nGraduate Learner of the Year was Wood's Ed Webster\n\nWinners Announced at the ECI Training and Development Awards 2019\n\nPersonal Message\n\nOn a personal note, for me I'm EXTRA happy that the distinguished finalists included a couple of people who are really important to me. Firstly, I was so happy to see Tina Bowen standing up there as a highly commended finalist for Supporting Diversity in Engineering Construction. Tina (standing in the middle with glasses) actually recruited me into Wood (which was Amec at the time), was a fantastic manager and has given me so much great advice over the years. This included not being so serious back in my early Graduate days 🤣. Also, with Tina was a very dear friend of mine Jenny Setterington who is the Encyclopaedia of Document Control and the first person you go to when you need rescuing! Jenny (second from the right) is someone who works hard, smart and goes over and beyond to make sure that things are fine the right way 💪. She also cracks me up and doesn't take any of my nonsense!\n\nI'm so proud of you both, and I'm sure that many more accolades will be coming your way. Having worked with you both, reading about your accomplishments came as absolutely no surprise to me!\n\nECITB Finalists Photo Official Tweet\n\nSimply the Best\n\nOne thing I enjoy about working for Wood is the real quality that we bring into the world via our best-in-class people. Reading about the fantastic things that we achieve always fills me with a sense of pride, and I look forward to seeing what else our people accomplish by just turning up to work and doing their thing!\n\nProud! Take care and all the best. Si.
